The wait is over! Chicago producer A-Villa finally releases his debut album, Carry on Tradition. The roaring horns on The Colosseum kept our ears perked up last month, and Live From The Villa released a few weeks ago laid the foundation for something great to come. 15 joints, some of Hip Hop’s illest emcees from day’s past and today all appear over Villa’s ridiculous production. A few weeks ago, I mentioned via Twitter that this album construction reminded me when Pete Rock released the first Soul Survivor. Many agreed. And if you’re a fan of PR, then you’ll most likely enjoy the heat in the oven Carry On Tradition is served from. Carry on Tradition is off Closed Session records.
I’ll be talking with A-Villa this Thursday on WLUW, 88.7fm at 6:30p about the new album. Mark your calendars!
