To celebrate 20 years of The Hip Hop Project we look back on some of the best moments from the longest running mix show in the country.

“The Meaning of Marad” Mixtape released in 2006 in conjunction with the release of Iomos Marad’s “Go Head” EP. Iomos had worked with THHP many times over the years and collaborating on a mixtape was something we always wanted to do. He was a staple at virtually every show we threw. His stage show is one of the best, especially when he would break out the drums. As talented as he is as an artist, he’s an even better person. So talented yet so humble. His debut album “Deep Rooted” is without a doubt a classic, and a definitive release from that era in Chicago music. The mix features a collection of his best work, including 12″ cameos, guest appearances and unreleased material. In my mind, the body of work released by Iomos Marad, All Natural Inc., and Family Tree will always be the gold standard for independent Chicago Hip-Hop. This mix is a great representation of that. Enjoy!
