[Commentary] WeekendGabe lists his top 10 albums of 2015 So Far..

Screen Shot 2015-06-12 at 10.15.44 AMHip Hop lists are often unfair to everyone involved, the artists, the fans and everyone who put effort in to a album, mixtape, EP, whatever. Everyone believes their ish the hottest, which is not always factual or actual. There’s just so much damn music how can you really itemize and list it? You really can’t and shouldn’t, but when some do what they can, I do what I want. Here are my best listens of 2015 as we cross the midway point of the year. Each album offers something uniquely different than the rest of the hip hop field, and delivers in the big 3 categories of lyrics, production, and story telling. Every album is a winner, but this list will shift as we continue on so I’ll revisit it later in December. But here is the best of the best. Thank me later

  1. FASHAWN – THE ECOLOGY
  2. KENDRICK LAMAR – TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY
  3. RAPPER BIG POOH – WORDS PAINT PICTURES
  4. TYLER THE CREATOR – CHERRY BOMB
  5. CHANCE THE RAPPER – SURF
  6. JOEY BADASS – B4 DA $$
  7. VIC SPENCER – THE COST OF VICTORY
  8. DRAKE – IF YOU’RE READING THIS IT’S TOO LATE
  9. GHOSTFACE KILLAH – SOUR SOUL
  10. DOM KENNEDY –BY DOM KENNEDY

Sunday Morning on WLUW, 88.7Fm (stream live on wluw.org) I’ll run down each album and play music from every album listed. Feel free to call in and get in the discussion starting at 7a!
